Students who qualify for Federal Work Study funds have the option of earning this money by working with a nonprofit in the community. LinC staff assist the Financial Aid Office in the placement and supervision of all Community Based Work Study students.
One option available for Federal Work Study is the LinC Literacy Program. Students accepted as a Literacy Tutor will commit to completing 300 hours of service in one-to-one tutoring at one of five community partner sites. These include Community action Head Start (pre-school), Oakland Community Center or Antioch Family Life Center (elementary age), Robnison Middle School and Let"s Help (adult Ed/GED Prep). Student accepted will be able to earn their Federal Work Study Award at the rate of $7.25 per hour and an additional education award of $1000 upon completion.
